nchor Club providing service where needed Service oriented, working with and for the community, the Anchor Club ladies gave their time and effort to help the citizens of Victoria. Anchor Club is definately on their way to the top! They have worked very hard this year to help meet the com- munities needs. Anchor Club ladies worked last August at the Food Fair, which benefited the HEAR Foundation. The Anchor Club ladies also held their annual teachers lun- cheon. Preparing sandwiches and tasty deserts were a few items on the list in which the ladies had to perform. It took a lot of work, but it was really neat seeing how much the teachers enjoyed It, said Renee Heibel, senior. The size of Anchor Club has greatly increased over the past years, and the club is highly respected. By helping the community and doing Anchor Club girls enjoyed not only working together, but get- ting together as well. I really had a lot of fun. said Karen Janak, junior. many service projects. undraising Clubs raise money for extra activities As each day passes, one can walk down the hall and see something new being sold. From candy to stuffed animals, organizations are always involv- ed in a fund-raiser. Fund-raising for clubs is great, said Dehlia Ramos, junior. I think it is a terrific idea for clubs to go out and earn their own money, she added. On the controversial side, some get tired of spending their own money on little things like Fund-raisers are always a big part of school life. Robert Perez, sophomore, serves popcorn for the Choir fund- raiser Popcorn was offered after school for 25 cents a bag. candy. Fund-raising is fine, but sometimes it gets a little out of hand, said Lisa Janak, sophomore. I get tired of buy- ing and selling candy all of the time, she added. The only thing I don ' t like about fund-raising is that I always end up spending my lunch money on candy, said Troy Starkey. I then go to lunch, and find out that I have spent all my money, he added. Fund-raising is sometimes a difficult job. Whether you like it or not, one must be constantly hasseled by the buying and sell- ing of items during their high school years in order to make your club successful.
