For the first time, the Girls Varsi- ty Basketball team won the right to advance to the state playoffs. The team played McAllen High School, District 32-5A winner, at the Texas A I University gym in Kingsville. Busloads of students and supporters traveled to cheer the Becky Barfield and Charla Ellis defend against Sting, Gwen Ware, at the boys gym during regular season.
