exas Boys ' State Bluebonnef Girls' State Five students representing Stroman studied our state government in action during June of I974. They were partici- pants in Texas Boys' State held on the University of Texas campus and Blue- bonnet Girls' State held at Texas Lutheran College. Kyle McClain and David Meek were sponsored by the Lions and Kiwanis clubs. Cindy Haas, Eileen Kilgore and Carolyn Machalec were sponsored by the Pilot, Soroptom- ist and Luncheon Pilot clubs of Victoria. They were among 900 boys and 520 girls from across the state who took part in the week-long affairs. Learning about the various branches of govern- ment, campaigning for offices, and meeting state officials and personalities including Governor Dolph Briscoe, Chief Justice Price Daniels, and Coach Royal of T.U. were all memorable expe- riences.
