MR Z. H. DORLAND Principal STREATOR HIGH SCHOOL MARCHES ON It was in 1875 that a group of progressive citizens of the Streator community brought about the formation of the Streator Township High School. The founders of our school were men and women who were looking ahead and were thinking only in terms of the welfare of the youth of their day and the days to come. For nearly three quarters of a century Streator Township High School has continued to serve the youth of the community. Thousands have passed through its class rooms and halls and have found their places in industry, the trades, agriculture, and the professions. The school was founded during the reconstruction period following the Civil War. Since its establishment three major wars have been fought and depression and boom periods have come and gone, but always through the steadfast leadership of courageous school boards, administrators, teachers, and students, the school has continued to grow in influence and usefulness. Today the challenge is greater than ever in the history of the school, but if those that are intrusted with the management, operation, and administration, are true to their stewardship, as have been the men and women of the past, Streator Township High School will meet the challenge successfully and will con- tinue to meet the needs of our youth. We should be truly proud of our high school and of the privileges that are ours -to serve, to partake of the educational service it offers, and to have a part in its support. May we all continue to work together, citizens, teachers, and students, to build a better Streator High School. THE POWER BEHIND THE WHEEL
