'77 SENIORS BRYANT BROWN ROY DAKIN President Vice-President ' 1' - f7f 1 ,IL , ,I V ,J JUNE RAINGER GEORGE NELSON Secretai y Treasurer MR SNOW MISS PURLELL Adviser Adviser The Memories of a Class Draw your chairs close to the fireside class of 38 Lets talk about the good old days when we were in high school Just as our fathers remember how they dipped our mothers braids in mkwells we too had special thlngs happen to us that have the individual flavor of our generation and of our own dear Streator High School As the fire brightens and we clear the smoke of time from our mlnds a plcture emerges from our dreams It is our freshmen dance embarrasslngly called a kids party We are surprised to see how small we are and how hard we are trvlng to look sophisticated We are dancing as though we really knew how Some of us are even trylng that daring new tep called the hop Now the music changes from Believe it Beloved to Lost in a Fog and our dream fades When the mists reassemble it is our Junior year We see in quick succession the processes of tearing down the older part of our hlgh school and erectlng the new with its proud auditorium and its convenient classrooms orchestras play swing music the dancers are swinging it and the girls wear swmg sklrts We wander on ln our dreams of the past and as always distance lends enchant ment Now we see our Junior Prom which seems like the best ever given It is a reflection of our era too a penthouse the Manhattan skyline There are more Jumor Prom memorles but our minds race on to our senlor year In the scenes that pass before our minds vse notlce that we are beginning to come into our own as we complete our high school work We have more act1v1 tles and we are more mature We see in pleasant dreams the arbor of vsistarla that is the background for the prom and agalnst It we see our friends ln their lovely clothes What happy days we are thinking At last the scene changes to our commencement the last occaslonl The memory of the solemn gray robed figures makes us want to laugh and cry too We see on each others faces the dawning reallzation of our newly acquired adult hood and it seems strange and new to us Nancy Whittier M If , . . 1 V I ' ' v 1 K4 !7 ' ' , .
