THE HIGH SCHOOL REVIEW d1l'orlal TS ALWAYS hard to say goodby even when one knows that she IS comlng back some txme-and when one IS sure that she IS golng away forever the task IS a good deal harder It makes one wxsh that she had all the eloquence of all the ages and sages so that she mlght wrlte somethmg really worth the readlng somethmg really worth whlle some thmg that w1ll make her remembered after she IS gone But smce wlt and words and worth have been demed us m the measure for which we long there IS nothlng left but to do the best we can and our very best IS so often pltlably poor We have notxced that other edltors on glvmg thelr farewell address always mentlon the fact that though they have not come up to the helght of thelr ldeals at very least they are comforted by the thought that thelr ln tentlons were good and then' Ideals Just as hlgh at the end as at the begm nlng however much thelr hopes were blasted But somehow that thought doesn t comfort us so much as lt mlght We wanted to do wonders-to work mxracles to set precedents and we forgot that thmgs do not come to pass through mere wantlng So our dreams falled to come true But there IS one thmg that alone IH all f,hlS world of sorrow IS a comfort at the last ilf we sound as if we were about to dle, that IS Just the way we feel J And thls one thln IS that the lxttle we dld never went unapprelcated Teachers pupxls and parents they were always encouragmg, when encour agement was the most Important thmg m all the world There were tlmes when lt seemed as lf everythmg was gomg wrong when our asplratlons and our msplratxons allke had left us and the sun had gone under a cloud But when everythnng else falled there was stlll sympathy and understand mg and we honestly belleve that there IS more sympathy and understandmg 1n Streator Hlgh than IH any other school of 1ts SIZE ln the world Whlch bellef we shall stand by untll the end of the chapter So lf those we are leawlng behmd will remember that we are sorry to leave them because they themselves were so good to us as to make us un wllllng to do wlthout then' many kmdnesses, and wlll try to reallze that ln whatever else we have fallen short at least our gratltude IS beyond all bounds and all language then we shall have done a llttle-and to us the httle wlll be much We wxll not say goodby That word IS too hopelessly final We will only say Auf Wedersehen and God bless you' AN APPRECIATION HE EDITOR of the Revlew wlshes to extend her smcere thanks and appreclatlon to every member of the Staff Wlth whom she has worked thxs year for each one has earned special pralse for the cheerful and conscxentlous manner ln whlch they have conducted themselves during the entlre perlod Partxcular praxse should be glven to our efhclent Business 7 1 2 I E ' - ' 2 I 4 , . . 1 . , . . . . .
