It is to serve as a tribute to her for a job well done. A job of inspiring and directing us through our high school years. We would not have so many pleasant memories and expectations of the future if she hadn't been there as a helpful and understanding teacher. Thank you, Mrs. Batson, for being you. JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY 1917 -- 1963 Ask not what your country can do for you--Ask what you can do for your country Seniors-- - Having had the opportunity to watch you grow through the years and become fine young men and women, I want to congratulate you on becoming young people who can be very individualistic or can belong to a group and give of your abilities and tal- ents for the betterment of yourself, your parents, your school and your community. I challenge you to remember that your growth must never end! Each can become a giant in his cho- sen profession, and each can become a giant in his own way. Never sell yourself short. Never underes- timate your ability. Always remember that as you grow, so grows the world. Eugene Huddleston Mr. Huddleston accepted a superintendency active January 1, 19645 and Mr. Poer became our principal Seniors- - - gig gy It is indeed a privilege to come into a school sys- tem with such high ideals and standards of achieve- ment as is found here. May your goals always be beyond the horizon, and your success a satisfaction to you and a blessing IO yOLl1' COllI'1U'y. Earl Poer Administration During the past school year, there have been various changes in our school administration. This is the first year that the schools of Straughn, New Lisbon, Lewisville, and Spiceland operated un- der aSchool Board in the new South Henry School Corporation. The members of our first School Board are: President, Robert Hedrick: Vice President, Richard N. Wicker: Treasurer, G. Robert Bitlerg Secretary, Marguerite Greeng and Arthur E. Fowler, Charles M, Wil- son, and Theodore Applegate. Along with Superintendent of Schools, T. Don Edington, the members of the Board have put in many long hours trying to make the transition from three township systems to one school district as smooth as possible. Leilani Batson serves as secretary to the superintendent in the office which is in Lewisville. On the local scene there were regular changes in the cast. We started the school year with two teachers new to the system, Mr. Paul Todd, whom we share with Lewisville, and Mrs. Charles Ferrell. During the year, we changed principals: Miss Royer became Mrs. Shafer: Mrs. Luellen resigned because of illness, and was replaced by Mr. Emerson Pearson, who left to be replaced by Mrs. Joyce Wiatt. . . Seated: Ruth Batson, Earl Poer, Marilee Ferrell, Marjorie Butler. Standing: Billy Joe Buffalo, Dorothy Luellen, Ruth Swain, Ina Mae Leakey, Mary Lou Garver, Raymond Ferdinand, Shirley Shafer, and Ray Pierce . V W You've got five aces!
