World of Tomorrow Though. throughout history, the people ot the world have made enormous strides in the field of science and industry, they have yet to find a solution for the preservation ot peace among nations, people, races and religions. Xve are the tuture generation and it will loe up to us, the high school graduates ot today, to help find a solution tor this prolalem. The people ot the world have let science get the upper hand. The development ot science has enalgled man to produce the instruments which can inevi- talnly and completely ohliterate all manliind from the earth. The world has lneen in chaos and despondency hetore and recovered, yes. hut never has there heen the threat of complete disintegration which exists today. That is the reason it is imperative tor us to gain the lcnowledge which will enahle us to create the machinery lor world cooperation. tr is up to us. the students ot the world of today and the citizens ot the world of to- morrow. to malxe up lor the centuries ot scientific advancement over learning. The people hetore us did not learn their lesson lrom history. and laecause they laclaed the lxnowleclge necessary lor the creation ol? a lasting peace. the world has not yet learned to live without strite and aggression. It is either now or never: it we donqt maintain peace in 'tomor- rows world. we may never again have a chance to do so. Pl-hat is the reason we are lieing educated. It is time to realize that peace can he maintained only liy thorough lcnovvleclge and Wise judg- ment. and not hy evil torces ol destruction. The importance of democracy and mutual understanding must he taught all over the world to every person on earth il we are to have a lasting peace. Though it is possilole to develop machines to too great a degree, it never is possilule to have too much lcnowledge. It is our joh to seelx knowledge in order that We can fulfill our duty as protectors ot the peace. We must develop into thinlcers and doers and not remain the inert machines that men fwith a few ex- ceptionsi otten have lneen. The time to prepare is the present. and it We are successful the results will he felt in the World ot tomorrow and many Worlds in the future.
