To THE SEN1oRs: I am pleased to have this opportunity of Writing a few words to the members of the class of June 1946. May I congratulate each of you upon the completion of your l1igl1 school course. It is worthy of mention that your class has established an excep- tionally fine record in this school. The scholarship record that you have made is noteworthy. There are many more members of this class than is usual who have planned to attend college and who are peculiarly well fitted to profit from a college education. I feel certain that those of you who go on through college will bring credit not only upon yourselves but also upon the school. You may find it difficult to believe right now that your high school career has been-and may well be-the most significant period in your lives. I firmly believe, however, that as the years pass you will come to agree with me. In this most formative period in your lives you have laid the foundations and groundwork for your future. You have ac- quired basic knowledge and skills. You have learned to express your- selves in speech and in writing so that you may impress yourselves upon others. You have been shown the value of fine personality traits and have striven hard, I hope, to strengthen your own personality. You have been taught the exceedingly important art of living in peace and har- mony with your fellowman without regard to his origin or his religion or economic status. That you have learned well all of these things is my earnest hope. No matter how well you have learned all of these things you will still find it difficult to adjust to the world as it is today. We are passing through a violent period of world-Wide adjustments and readjustments. Every nation is attempting to strengthen its position, both economically and politically, with respect to its neighbors and its competitors. All of this jockeying for strength and power is reflected from the top all the way down to the various positions which you individually will be called upon to fill. That you will bring to these positions the necessary skills and the required knowledge and experience based upon a broad and enlightened training is my firm conviction. Strength, character, will power, perseverance, devotion to the ideals as they have been taught you-all will aid you in achieving success in the tasks that may be assigned you. I am proud of each one of you and I wish to extend to all of you my very best wishes for a pleasant and a full life. Sincerely yours, H. NORMAN FORD, Acting Principal
