l'lEFiDMHSTER'S MESSHGE Young people today express the wish for UFreedomU. Freedom to drink, freedom to smoke, freedom to drive, freedom to choose to go to school or not to go to school, freedom to choose which school they will attend. Such catch phrases as NDo your own thingn, nLife should be led like a cavalry chargen, and the old, old standbye, nEat drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may dien are bantered about by young people with no real thought to completing the phrase. Let me pose a proposition. Increasing age is directly proportional to increasing responsibility. To say it in non-mathematical language, the older you are, the more responsibility you have. In symbols this could be represented as AMR and A:KR where HAH represents your age, URW represents your responsibility and HKU is a constant that does not depend on age or responsibility. If you can see this proposition and then understand the concept, we can go on Lat us look gives you freedom to requires you to have again at our catch phrases. WFreedomU. Well, if your age drink or drive or smoke, then by our thesis your age the responsibility to keep these freedoms under control so that K will remain constant - K your purpose in life. It must remain constant. If you have reached the age where you can WDo your own thingn remember that you must accept the responsibility that goes along with it and you must maintain that constant purpose in life K. Whatever your own WThingU, it has quences and you are responsible for them. nLife should be led like its conse- a cavalry chargen. Fine, if you realize that you must accept the responsibility for the charge and no cavalry charge has been successful without a plan of a purpose for the attack. UEat drink and be merry for tomorrow you but remember you most likely are not going to die tomorrow and you to have to accept the responsibility and the consequences for your drinking and merry-making. attack and may dien- are going eating, So in conclusion to this short exercise, take your HFreedomU but accept its responsibility, HDo your own thingn, but be sure you know the consequencesg HLead your life like a cavalry chargen, but plan your charge and have a purpose, UEat drink and make merryn, but be prepared to go on living tomorrow. Tomorrow is a gggat day and it is yours. 4
