o SENIOR GIRLS ' BASKETBALL This year the Senior Girl ' s Basketball team proved that the girl ' s teams of Northwestern are coming out on top. During the first few games of the season the girls looked very promising and proved it by the end of the season. The team finished second in the Huron Perth finals against St. Mary ' s. The girls worked hard together but the St. Mary ' s team out-scored our team. After Huron Perth the girls travelled to St. Thomas for WOSSA. At 8:00 it was all over. Northwestern was defeated by a team from London. The basketball season for Northwestern always ends too soon as far as the girls are concerned. This is not always so for the coach. This year the girls were worked hard in practice and in every game and that is why we came out on top. The person who we thank for all the hard work, time and effort put into the team is Miss Campbell. o BOYS ' CROSS COUNTRY This year the boy ' s cross country team travelled to the ' Alps ' of Wingham with high hopes but the competition proved to be too much. The competition combined vdth the arduous course caused the Huskies to finish in the middle of the pack. O GIRLS ' CROSS COUNTRY Results of the Huron Perth Cross Country Meet were as follows: Top runners: Midgets-Donna Skinner 4th Seniors-Karen Grasby 3rd Karen Grasby represented the team at WOSSA ' xajgiBiBiaaiaiaiarajaraisiBXSJSJsiEfEiHfsiHiajEjgiaiE O JUNIOR BOYS ' BASKETBALL This year produced the best jimior basketball team Northwestern ever had. It started in November when Mr. Wright with only two jimiors from last years team put together a championship team. The season opened with nine exhibition games and coming out with eight wins and one loss against Guelph C.V.I, proved to produce an exciting year. Next came the Huskie Tournament where the Huskies defeated Tilsonburg, Annondale and Aylmer, but were defeated by Central 56 - 39 in the championship game. Another tour the Huskies attended was up in Goderich. The juniors won their first game against London Banting 52 - 51 but were beat in the semi-final game against Strathroy 53 - 27. The juniors got another crack at Strathroy a few weeks later and won 59 - 45. Now, entering league a ction the juniors came through with a perfect nine win zero loss record and the highlight was beating Central in their own court 57 - 40. This set the Huskies up with first place and having to play MitcheU in the playoffs and defeating them 58 - 27. For the championship it was North- western against Central again and the first game being in Central, the juniors surprised evsryone by defeating Central 44 - 35. The second game being in our home court was a real thriller by upsetting a Central 13 point lead giving Northwestern it ' s first Huron Perth Junior Basketball Championship. At the end of the season the Juniors record was 21 wins, 4 losses. The team would like to express their gratitude to Coach Wright and his managers for building a champ- ionship team.
