o great thang as created suddenly there must be trme The grant sequona trees rnsmg far unto the sky from the floor of the forest were once no more than tender sapllngs susceptlble to all the whnms of nature The radlant sun shone down on them and the gentle rams came to nurture and rouse the young sapllngs The tearnng wmds whipped at them and the turbulent floods swept over them Yet they grew taller and stronger but nature had left her mark Some of the trees were stranght and tall whale others were gnarled and twlsted dnsplayung the hardshups they had endured We are the sum and substance of all the events of our llves Our llves are composed of countless mfluences all lnnked to the past whsle formung a founda tuon for the future The flrst day at camp the day our dog died our first real frnendshlp and our thlrteenth burthday party these llttle things have all con trubuted to our present outlook Durmg the last few years we have been In con tact wnth perhaps the greatest nnfluence of our llves Stratford Hugh School Wnthnn these walls we have recenved gundance from entrance to graduatlon from the fTrst bell of the mornlng to the dISmISSGl bell at the end of the day With patience and understandmg our teachers have sought to Implant the foundatuons of learning ln each of us But Stratford Hrgh School has offered more than academuc learmng lt has offered an expernence an llvlng The successes and fallures In class the dnscussuons un the classroom and the lockerroom the dances and assemblues the clubs and Student Councll meetmgs have all served on help mg us learn to lnve To wan one football game graciously and to lose another honorably these are the lessons un hvmg whnch we have been taught Now we have grown and we have felt the palns of failure and the loys of success We were responslble for maknng the most of the opportumtles at hand for securing a foundatuon of strength to Insure the eventual fruntlon of our dreams Let us stand flrm agannst the floods of corruption and the wlnds of evll and as the sun and the ram nurtured the tender sapllng let our experlence an Stratford Hugh School help us to become responslble cmzens We are now on the threshold of adulthood All that we have learned and experienced In these few years wnll serve as a foundatuon for the future and wlll Influence us for the rest of our llves 1' T'
