Miss Doris C harter Learning a new language creates a desire to find out about the people who speak it. Its study enriches our background and cultivates world understanding. Especially this year, during the Krushchev visit, we saw how vital it is to be able to understand what other people are trying to tell us. Since we can't all have an interpreter at our elbows, the Language Department is prepar- ing the students at Stratford High School with a working knowledge of Spanish, French and Latin. Translators are traitors, goes an old proverb, signifying how much more meaningful a book can be when it is read in its original language.
