Hampden is bringing a suit against Mr. Carlyle and you find it very entertaining to find that the suit never comes up, but instead a suit of Beth Winters vs. Hampden appears. Hampden wins and Beth is sentenced to a ten year prison sentence. Later, Hampden finds that Beth is his lost daughter. In the course of the play, many laughs occur, all centered around Mr. Multen.
