CLASS HISIDHY On a sunny September morning rn the year nineteen and frrty two six small children walked up the steps of Stratford Grade School First in line was Donald Watts No one would have guessed that he would someday be president of the Senior Class Behind Donald stood Charles Sheppard the class comedian, Richard McClure the artist Gilbert Patton the troublemaker Lovell Melton, the singer, and Janet Green, who has stuck by her class for twelve years To them go our deepest compliments for l2 years of loyal and unbroken attendance Frances Davis also came into our midst that year but left to rejoin us our Freshman year In the second grade Henry Watts the hearthrob of our class added his name to our roll The third grade presented us with another small headache in the person of Steve Phillips Marilyn Reed Joined our class in the fourth grade coming the rest of the way with us Lynnwood Gray stayed a while in the fourth and sixth then finally decided to stay his Fresh man year In the sixth grade who should come to us but Hugh Conway the boy most destined to become an actor Also starting that year was Donny Burns with his smiling face JoAnn Jones joined the seventh grade and has stayed the rest of the way Davis Crisp, the quiet boy of the class came upon our unsuspecting heads in the seventh grade and has been w1th us ever since Euel Potter our only married man Joined us rn the eighth grade left in the ninth then decided to stay in the Junior year And in that eighth year came Norma Morris Glenn Lunsford and Harvey Smith Handsome Glenn and pretty Norma Jo have been constant members of the boys and girls ball teams Harvey is now a band member Thus ending the eighth year we were ready for high school Well at long last we were Freshmen and were actually in high school This was our most exciting year From Lewis Chapel came Corene Forrester and Wanda Roland the eyecatchers of our class Vanoss sent us Inez Childs who has the ability to be a teacher Then came the peewee of our class DeLorls Hanks who stands five feet Forrest Doshier then entered our class along with the sly one, Bobby Fox The last three additxons Corley presented us McGee gave us Pat Cosby our Freshman queen That year we annexed J C Granhham who has had every nlckname in the book John Miller the success with blondes and Dneta Thomas the quiet type as special features from Prairie View Every class should have a homemaker and ours is Lyda laxey from Lone Hill From Walker came two pretty brown eyes in the person of Alta Jean Williams From Prairie Grove came 0 A Savage w1th his determination to be a farmer Sammie Dykeman the valedlctorian of our Our Junior year was the one in which we worked hardest We presented our play 'One Mad Night and gave our Jr Sr banquet using our motto and colors as our theme And at the middle of our Junior year Mary Shi Joined our class Next came that glorious year, the one for which we worked so hard Seniors at last' Our Senior play Desperate Ambrose was hilarious and the Juniors honored us with an exquisite banquet These are the elements that fill our school years to the fullest and make for lovely memories 1n the years to come Janet Green Richard McClure EVIOR' S FAREWBU. Well at long last we re graduating We're proud to say we graduated And 1t's nineteen fifty four We look back at happy memorzes But we look forward even more As hometown folk you ve done a lot, And we ve caused you lots of fuss But we love you all and thank you for Everything you ve done for us Our teachers prepared us for the future They taught us all we know They were patient and understanding, When the grades became so low From dear old Stratford High We loved it while it lasted, And we leave it with a sigh Farewell dear school we love so well, Our parting time is nigh Hay we reach your expectations.
