On a bright September morning in the year of nineteen hundred and thirty six, the doors of the primary room of Stratford school swung wide to admit the following pupils: Gertrude White, Ann Bryan, Mary Bryan, wanetta Reynolds, V. E. Townsend, James Sheppard, Eurma Duke, Bruce Corley, and Marye Frances Stafford. To them go our deepest compliments on their re- cord of 12 years of loyal and unbroken attendance. In our third year Mary Louise Mitchell added her name to our roll, and J. V. Lobaugh decided to come into our ranks in the fourth year. Then in the sixth year Margreat Smith came into our midst. Glen Jenkins, Bessie Henagar, and Bill Gray descended upon our un- suspecting heads, in the seventh year, all of them coming from the same school. Our ninth year, thrill of thrills, was the first year in high school. It brought the class eight major headaches in the persons of: Lois Lunsford, Francis Jones, Oniel Jackson, Dortha Richardson, Effie Reed, Gilbert Thompson, Joe Shi Burleson, and Jerald Underwood. This, we might unnecessarily add, was an active year. As Sophomores we worked hard in our own brilliant way, and annexed Betty Meeks as a special feature. These were happy days filled to the brimming point with work and play. During the happy-go-lucky days as Juniors, we were joined by George McBryde, Dee Wilson This year we had no worries at all-except the presentation of the three act comedy play, 'Damsels in Distressn, and the Junior-Senior Banquet, which was lovely in its theme of Moon- light and Roses. It was held in the dining room of Aldridge Hotel in Ada. Final and busiest year--the Senior, when we were graced by the appearance of Lorene Shults, who joined us in the limelight of graduation. Busy days of work on the annual, the class play, 'She's M Da1sy', and the frantic efforts to grab the last four life saving cre- dits. These are the elements that fill our Senior year to the fullest and make for lovely memories in the years to come. TALE OF THE GRADUATES Listen ye people to my tale so true, Of the class to whom great honor is due. I'll tell you of their fortune here below, And the sad events which caused them woe. I'll tell you of their life to come, The relation of this may strike you dumb! They started to school back in thirty six, And with their intelligent thoughts did mix, Readin, 'ritin and 'rithmetic Most efficiently taught by the hick'ry stick. They became great scholars, wisest of all Whom teacher sent to the study hall. They played their tricks and romped with glee, Those were good old days, by gee, For now they enter another world, Where plans of the future will be unfurled, And float like banners on evening breeze, May their merits the loyal watchers please. May heaven guide their dancing feet, And never opportunity be victim of cheat, That takes away their ambition strong, But ever guide them safely along The path that feet of success have trod, And ever keep their hearts uplifted to God. Poem and History by-Dortha Richardson
