We reached Arlington, Texas that evening for Senior night at Six Flags Over Texas. We left Six Flags at 4 a.m., soaking wet, tired, and disappointed after spending eight hours sitting under a shelter because of severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and flooding. At 11 a.m., May 9, we reached Galveston, Texas where we would be spending the next three days. Highlights of our stay included an evening at Bob’s Country and Western Club, three days at the beach, an evening to dine out at the most exclusive hotel in Galveston, the Flagship, a two-hour cruise through Galveston Bay. Then as much as we hated to leave it was time to head home with a stopover in Houston for a visit to the Astrodome to see the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Houston Astros 3-2!!! It was a fun-filled six days and nights that we will never forget!!! SENIOR TRIP From Our Junior-Senior Banque and Prom was held on May 1981. The theme was Sta ing Over. The juniorsha decorated the gym beauti fully with streamers, rai bow, waterfall ,hangi ngca complete with white b.rd and gravel terrace. AWARDS VALEDICTORIAN ............. POP CHOIR The first performance of the year for the Choral Department was Sept. 29 at the All-School Open House. On Nov. 18, some members of the Mixed Chorus participated in the Conference Choral Clinic at Lincoln High School. The day of rehearsals was followed by an evening concert under the direction of Dr. Richard Weymuth, guest Clinician. The Boy’s and Girl’s Glee Clubs and the Mixed Chorus combined with the Instrumental Department for the Dec. 12 Winter Concert. Contest entries included both large and small ensembles and soloists. The Glee Clubs, Mixed Chorus, Pop Choir, and Soloists pooled their efforts for entertainment at the Spring Show. Pop Choir new addition to the Vocal Department performed at the Hammermill, Athletic events, and Homecoming, as well as at some Community Activities. y co±t. !U'c. Margaret Buckler Leila Bremer Linda Boles L-R: Irene Tietjen, Margaret Buckler, Linda Boles, Lelia Bremer, Modesta Simon, Marian Ehlers Jim Taylor, Elvon Merriott, Leon Viebrock, Charlie Jackson, Kenneth Martens, Orland Pennell Leonard Metscher Head Mechanic MARTHA FERNANDEZ TORRES Martha has been a foreign exchange student at Morgan County R-l for the year 1980-1981. Her birthday is December 15, 1964. She lives in Mexico City, Mexico. Her hobbies include playing the accordian, riding horses and motorcycles, rollerskating, and collecting stamps. The courses she took this year are Chemistry, Geography, College Algebra, P.E. Health, Typing, and English I. Martha found many things different here than in Mexico. She said that everyone was friendly and you could talk to the teachers like a friend. She likes some American food, but overall prefers Mexican dishes. She said she liked being part of Pep Club. She played hockey in gym class and made the first goal. She enjoyed going to ballgames, being part of the softball team, and going to the prom. She likes pizza, having snowball fights, walking in the woods, and walking through fields. In Mexico they go to school fifteen or sixteen years. They have three or four years of kindergarten, six years of primary school, three years of secondary school, and three years of preparatory school. The houses in Mexico have flat roofs and here they are slanted. In Mexico they get two weeks for Easter holiday, but they don’t have an Easter Bunny. During the school year, Martha lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Eckhoff.
