1963 We, the Reflector Staff of 1962- 63, wish to dedicate the Eight- eenth Volume of our yearbook to an able and efficient teacher, ad- viser and friend. Where our in- terests have been, so have hers through her years of teaching in Stover High School. She is always willing to give of her time for our comforts in extracurricular events, and devotes much time to our academic learning. To Mrs. Alice Jones, we salute and wish good luck. SEMl0 BjiHQUlJ ■ J(HD J X 0 M 2 Jesse Walters has been Superin- tendent for nine years. In these nine years he has proven his skill in an effective manner. Working at his side is Leo Jones our High School Principal. The students and faculty readily •recognize them as friends to all, and always present to lend a helping hand and to give an en- couraging word. Miss Joy Stucker, a graduate of Stover High keeps things running smoothly in the office. SUPERINTENDENT—Jesse E. Walters ADMINISTRA TION PRINCIPAL—Leo P. These ladies have put forth much time, effort, and planning to make our school lunch program a success . The school custodians, played a very im- portant part in our school life. With dust as their enemy they fought day after day to keep our halls and classrooms clean. During summer vacations they are busy making improvements. School buses again operated this year to transport students. Our bus drivers certainly deserve a pat- on-the-back for the part they have played in making this year a success. Compliments of FARMERS BANK OF STOVER 9 SENIOR TRIP On Saturday, May 4, 1963, at 2:30 a.m. thirty-one sleepy but happy Seniors and their sponsors, Mr. Jesse Walters and Mrs. Evelyn Alpers, began their trip to Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana. They were taken by school bus, by Vernon Haynes to Springfield where they arrived at 5:15 a.m. ate breakfast and boarded an M.K. O. Lines bus and left Springfield at 6:15 for their long days journey. Saturday night we were in Jackson, Mississippi, at the King Edward hotel; excited and tired, but not sleepy. Sunday morning we visited and attended Church Services at Piney Woods School. Sunday afternoon was the climax of our trip; we arrived at Pensacola Beach for an afternoon of swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. After eating supper in Pensacola, about 5:30 p.m., we started back across Florida, the corner of Alabama, and to Blioxi, Miss., to check into the Trade Winds Hotel. The next day was spent swimming, sun bathing, sail boat riding, and relaxing in the beautiful Mississippi sun. Tuesday--New Orleans and all its excitement, Canal Street, French Quarter, St. Louis Cathedral, Jackson Square, Sugar Bowl, Old Cemeteries and into the Motel DeVille. The night tour took us to Lake Ponchartrain Amusement Park and more fun and then to Bourbon Street and Cafe DuMonde Coffee Shop, ending with a party at the Motel. Wednesday we were homeward bound via Baton Rouge and the State Capitol, Oil Refineries, Natchez and Stanton Hall, battle grounds at Vicksburg. Thursday was a long trip home--pranks, jokes, and more fun. We are not quite naive enough to be mistaken for sopho- mores but not sophisticated enough to be seniors. Nevertheless, we feel that the seniors are leaving things in good hands as they march down the aisle on Com- mencement night. Our Junior Class Play was Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. Raising money for the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom was uppermost in our minds . We spent many weeks preparing for this memorable event. This ended the principle social events of the year. April 26, 1963, we gave our fond farewell to the Seniors of '63. wr Compliments of W. A. We're not upperclassmen or green freshmen, but just inbetweeners. It seems as though we've come a long way, but we're just on the second lap of our high school run. By not being upperclassmen or freshmen, at times we feel a little left out. But we're kept going by the thought of the thrilling moments that will be ours when we're the upperclassmen of Stover High School. So this is talent?
