The Banquet, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, was a gala affair, with Miss Peggy Wadick as Toast-Mistress. Juniors had carried out the motif, Under The Sea, with aqua and white streamers in the Church base- ment and Gym. Musical numbers were the group singing Anchors Aweigh, Harbor Lights by the Mermaids, a girls' quartet, Red Sails In the Sunset by the Beachcombers, a mixed quartet, and Shrimp Boats by the Fishermen's Wives, a girls' sextet. After the Banquet and Program the group moved to the Gymnasium, beautifully decorated with gaily colored fish, sea shells, and treasure chests. Music for dancing was provided by the Ray Doerhoff Band from St. Elizabeth. Compliments of the LIONS CLUB SENIOR CLASS TRIP The Senior Class left May 9th, Fri., for the Class Trip to Denver and Estes Park, Colorado. The group was accompanied by their class sponsors, Mr. Jesse Walters and Mr. Leo Jones, and Mrs. Glenn Mar- tin assisted them as girls’ chaperone. Friday we left on a school bus, after painting it with shoe polish, Seniors of '58, and were on our way to Colorado via our day in Kansas City. After enjoying a picnic lunch in Swope Park and visiting the Zoo, we went downtown to shop and sight-see. We boarded our train at 6:30 p.m. and after the giggling and sleepless night we arrived in Denver at 7:00 a.m. Grey Line Tours took the group on a 12-hour tour of Denver, Loveland, the Mountains in Estes Park, the University of Colorado in Boulder, the U.S. Bureau of Standards, souvenir shops and other places of interest. At 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening we boarded the train, a tired but still riotous bunch, and arrived in K. C. Sunday morning at 8:30. We ate breakfast in the Fred Harvey Restaurant in Union Station, then toured Liberty Memorial. After stopping at the Katz Store in Raytown, we were on our way home, making a short trip through the Whiteman Air Force Base in Knobnoster. About 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening the exhausted but happy group reached our final destination - home. We got plenty of sleep that night so we could come to school the next day! School Busses transported the Student Body to Lake Ozark, where we boarded the Larry Don,” an excursion boat. The morning was spent dancing, meeting an Indian Chief, and eating. Mostly eating! After lunch, we were free to shop at the souvenir stores, and most of us visited Phantom Acres, where gravity plays havoc with Mother Nature! The busses loaded about 2:30, and another year of learning, working, and playing was over!
