Leading the sophomore year were Recupero, president; Joe Baeta, v president; Ronna Sa dow, treasurer; and Leeann Murray, secretary . . . the thei Spirit Halls was Sophomore City . first plant sale was very successful . Class of ' 88 ordered a record number of class rings . . . Jamie Ruggiero was crowned Snow Queen; Joe Baeta and Jennifer Lan- ner were in the court . . . Susan Raisty re- ceived a second place in the Science Fair followed by Christine Feeley and Michael Polonsky . . . Laura Long, Kristin Sheehan were the only sophomores on the varsity softball team which made the tournament . . . boys tennis was also tourney-bound and included Mike Polonsky, Matt Gilman, Mi- chael Shifman, and Joe Tammaro . . . Hello, Dolly was the school musical and ' 88 was represented among the principals by Eric Olsen, Suzanne Coughlin, Fred Levy, and Leeann Murray ... A swim first; victory over Canton . . . field hockey and boys cross country were league champs . . . the first year of NESBA competitions for the marching band, who reaped more than their share of trophies . . . Stoughton is left with- out power for days after Hurricane Gloria blows through town . . . USA for Africa and Live Aide raised money for the famine vic- tims of Ethiopia . . . Christa McAullife was chosen as the first teacher to go into space; the world was horrified as it witnessed on television the tragic explosion of the space shuttle Challenger shortly after takeoff, kill- ing McAullife and her crewmates . . .
