Maioli) Thomas, Stickler Win State Science Fair Eight Stoughton High students won awards at the Massachusetts State Science Fair held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on April 23. Larry Thomas ' 77 and Lauren Stickler ' 78 each won first awards for their projects, while Manny Rose ' 78 received a Nine Juniors In Top 5% Of NMSQT Nine juniors from Stoughton High have passed the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test by placing in the top 5% of over 1,000,0(X» juniors who took the PSAT NMSQTs last October. The students who qualified were George Badeau, John Brennick, Keith Howard, Alison Kelly, Stephen LeBlanc, John Mac- Kenzie, Dean Rapoza, Rolf Ruben and Margaret St. George. Through the National Merit Scholarahip program these students may have two colleges notified of their achievement and future plans. All nine of these students are being considered for recognition in the 1978 Merit Program, but the decision won ' t be final until next fall. S.H.S. will be notified then of the students who will be allowed to participate. Sue Mooney ' 78 second place award. Third place awards were given to Rolf Ruben ' 78, Maureen Coughlin ' 80 and Rodney Vieira ' 79, while Dean Rapoza ' 78 and Stephen LeBlanc ' 78 won honorable mentions. Two scholarships were given out to two Stoughton students. Larry Thomas ' 77 won the Earthwatch Grants while Lauren Stickler ' 78 received the Mass. Secondary Principals Scholarship. Tom Uniacke ' 77 46 On New NHS List Forty-six juniors and seniors have been inducted into the Stoughton High National Honor Society as announced to Mrs. Polly Savicki, advisor. Of the group, five were seniors and 41 were juniors. A formal banquet was held May 12 in the high school cafeteria followed by the in- duction ceremony in the auditorium. To be a member of the Honor Society one must have an overall scholastic average of 88% or better. The other qualifications are good character, leadership and service. Senior inductees were Donald F. Brady, Maryellen Loughnane, Christopher Pemock, Robin Rolt and William Sievers. Members of the Junior Class who were inducted are Cheryl L. Alconada, Michael Alfano, Alisa Aronson, Eric Bamberg, Beverly Barry, Michael Bedard, Robert Binns, Joni Blatt, Luanne Boyle, and Andrea Brawders. Also Steven Bunson, Joan Coughlin, Cathy DiGiampietro, Robert Flaherty, William Flaherty, Debra Lynn Fergus, Peter Galanis, Ronald Garl)er, Clare Hanley, Joanne Huber, and Alison Kelly. Also Joanne Klim, Jeanne Kolinski, Joan Letson, Sarah-Ann Lynch, Kerin Lyons, Kevin McCarthy, Susan Mooney, Cynthia Ness, Constance Palmer, and Linda Prey. Also, Dean Rapoza, Rolf Ruben, Margaret St. George, Lance Saltzman, Margaret Sano, Lauren Stickler, Jane- Ellen Tamul, Mario Teixeira, Richard Vita, and David Wasserman.
