SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS To the Class of 1969: This year ' s graduation marks a milestone in your personal lives and in the history of the Stoughton Public Schools. From a personal perspective, graduation signifies the attainment of a challenging and rewarding goal; for the school system, it commemorates the centennial anniversary of the first class to be graduated from Stoughton High School. These dual celebrations represent in a microcosmic way the commitment to public education that has undergirded this nation ' s growth. As each generation received its educational legacy, it has made greater contributions to the educational welfare of succeeding generations. The distinctive honor, therefore, that inheres to this Centennial Class also carries a mantle of special responsibility that asks to foster the growth of educational excellence in your individual lives and in the community at large. In closing, may I extend to each of you my best wishes for your future success and happiness. Sincerely, Joseph H. Gibbons

SCHOOL COMMITTEE Front Row: Mrs. John W. Blomstrom, George M. Rist, Kenneth A. Hill; Rear: John P. McGillicuddy, Joseph H. Gibbons, Dr. Thomas A. Recupero, Dr. Thomas J. Whalen. TO THE CLASS OF 1969: I am pleased to greet you as Chairman of the Stoughton School Committee and as a fellow-alumnus of Stoughton High School. On behalf of the school committee, 1 salute you on completion of your high school education. We have endeavored to provide you with facilities and faculty that will enable you to mature mentally and physically. We hope that your future accomplishments will serve as a reward not only to your parents, but to all the citizens of Stoughton who have supported our educational program despite financial strain and sacrifice. I commend to you the memory of the century of graduating classes who have preceded you. You, the present, link with those of us who have gone before; together, we have molded the image of Stoughton High School for those who will come in the future. Whatever your future abode, we urge that through community involvement you display an awareness of the obligations of citizenship. No matter where you reside, you will never be able to erase the memory you hold of your classmates and for the high school from which we both have graduated. Cordially, KENNETH A. HILL Chairman Stoughton School Committee 4

AS SISTANT SUPERINTENDENT To the Class of 1969: Congratulations on this memorable occasion. The attainment of a high school diploma is a significant event. However, a more critical issue is the extent to which your involvement in and exposure to the educational experiences of this school system has made you a better person. If your intellectual capabilities have been heightened, if you are prepared to participate actively in this democratic society, and if you have a genuine concern for other people, then your diploma has a special meaning. This class deserves additional recognition because it is the 100th graduating class of Stoughton High School. As members of the Centennial Qass, you should not only be extremely proud of this special honor, but you should also be mindful of the long history of educational excellence in this community. Your class will make the first imprint in this new century of Stoughton education — hopefully, this mark will be a distinguished one. Thomas J. Whalen, Ed.D. 6
