PRINCIPAL To The Class of 1969: Congratulations upon the successful completion of your high school education. This achievement will certainly realize great rewards for you as time goes on. Perhaps for some of you, the tremendous value of your accomplishment is readily apparent and has opened doors for you. For others, it may not be quite so evident. This has been a story repeated many times during the past century. Your class has the distinction of being the Centennial Class. For 100 years, students have been graduated from the Stoughton High School. Experience has shown that these graduates have been well prepared and have accomplished won- derful things over the years. I am sure that you too will prove yourselves and make your contributions to society. Good luck and best wishes to all of you — may you enjoy happy and prosperous lives. Sincerely, Peter J. Sperandio, Ed.D. 7

AS SISTANT SUPERINTENDENT To the Class of 1969: Congratulations on this memorable occasion. The attainment of a high school diploma is a significant event. However, a more critical issue is the extent to which your involvement in and exposure to the educational experiences of this school system has made you a better person. If your intellectual capabilities have been heightened, if you are prepared to participate actively in this democratic society, and if you have a genuine concern for other people, then your diploma has a special meaning. This class deserves additional recognition because it is the 100th graduating class of Stoughton High School. As members of the Centennial Qass, you should not only be extremely proud of this special honor, but you should also be mindful of the long history of educational excellence in this community. Your class will make the first imprint in this new century of Stoughton education — hopefully, this mark will be a distinguished one. Thomas J. Whalen, Ed.D. 6

ARTHUR L. PENARDI Assistant Principal As a former graduate I welcome you to the ever increasing ranks of Stoughton High School Alumni. Although there are many years between your gradu- ation and mine, there does exist a common bond which can be found exemplified in the inscription on the front of Stoughton High School. It reads as follows: Dedi- cated to Citizenship. As each generation assumes its role of leadership, it must likewise maintain and develop its educational in- stitutions in order that an intelligent and informed citi- zenry will prevail. I extend my best wishes to each of you for your future success and happiness. ROBERT J. McLaughlin Administrative Assistant Goals are never fully and finally reached, for a goal once reached becomes the threshold to a host of other goals. This is the key to a rewarding and successful life — always to have before you goals sufficiently worthwhile to call forth from within the greatest in effort and the most noble in aspiration. Your gradua- tion, though it is a goal now reached, is aptly termed Commencement for it opens the doors to newer goals and higher achievements. This is the best we can wish each of you — that you continually set goals that are worthy of your finest effort and dedication. ALBERT C. WILLIAMSON Director of Guidance The Qass of 1869 graduated from Stoughton High School after a period marked by racial problems, the assassination of a president, and the aftermath of a war that tore our country apart. Somehow its members managed to survive this turbulent period to make a significant contribution to community, state, and na- tion. The Class of 1969, one hundred years later, also faces an uneasy future after a period marked by war, racial tensions, and presidential assassination. How- ever, you go out to meet the world with a far better preparation in terms of modem educational programs, facilities, and supplementary services. What you do with your training will greatly affect the welfare of our community and nation. Best wishes for a happy and productive future. 8
