Assistants ARTHUR L. PENARDI TO THE CLASS OF 1967: Commencement is a time for joy in accomplishment; it is also a time for consideration of the future. As each of you determines the goals you will pursue, our earnest hope is that you will be guided by a commit- ment to values and inspired by a desire to excel. Further, in your continuing pursuit of knowledge and under- standing, may you come to realize that one of the won- ders of both is that there is no end to either. Congratulations to each of you and best wishes for the future. Sincerely yours, Robert J. McLaughlin 17 THE CLASS OF 1967 Our most successful leaders of the past have had a wide variety of personalities and professional knowl- edge, but the one fundamental quality they possessed was solid moral character. Right actions are based on the moral principles that made us the greatest nation ever known to man. These principles are the foundation of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. In the final analysis it is on moral principles that we are judged by others and judge ourselves. In the immediate future your generation will have to assume the responsibility of leadership and decision. I am confident that you will accept this challenge and carry on in the splendid tradition that has become your legacy. I extend my best wishes to each of you for your success and happiness. Arthur L. Penardi Assistant Principal ROBERT J. McLaughlin

Guidance ALBERT C. WILLIAMSON DIRECTOR OF GUIDANCE To the Class of 1967: Education in America is quite different from what is called education in a dictatorship. American education does not have instant answers for every question. It encourages evaluation by the individual and an assessment of one ' s personal values and the values of society. In American education, the teacher is a guide and a friend: the student is encouraged toward independent thinking. The faculty of Stoughton High School have attempted to prepare you for your responsible role as a citizen in our country at a very critical time. Our best wishes go with you. We know that you will discharge your responsibili- ties faithfully and with understanding. Sincerely, ft Albert C. Williamson Director of Guidance 18
