As you conclude the first phase of your normal life span, you have witnessed the power of man ' s intel- lect. He has placed himself in orbit around the earth. He has made tremen- dous advances in the field of medicine to alleviate human suffering and his pro- duction of consumer goods has reached an all-time high. However, man has yet to perfect a plan whereby all of the people of the world can look forward to an enduring peace. It is my earnest hope that as each of you continue in your professional or vocational training, you will make a sub- stantial contribution in this problem area so that you will experience a lasting peace in your lifetime.
