SCHOOL BOARD Left to right: Edmund L. Daley; Joseph H. Gibbons, Superintendent; Robert J. Buckley, Secretary; Dr. Appleton C. Woodword, Choirmon; David M. Benjamin; A. Leonard Anderson. The Stoughton School Committee ex- tends its most sincere congratulations to the Class of 1955. As individuals you have reached a crossroad in your lives. Let your inter- est grow broader and more general to avoid the complacency which only breeds indifference to your environ- ment and heritage. Use the fundamen- tals of your education, now terminating in graduation from high school, to strengthen the knowledge, which is so essential to good living, happiness and the service of your country. The end product of growing up and education is an individual who is able to manage his own affairs with due consideration for other people, able to think for himself, able to manage his feelings and emotions, and able to contribute to the groups of which he is a member , states Dr. Karl S. Bern- hardt of the University of Toronto, De- partment of Child Study. Our best wishes for continued suc- cess go with you. A. C. WOODWARD Chairman As Superintendent of Schools, I extend my personal congratulations to each and every member of the Class of 1955. The primary purpose of your public school education has been to prepare you for citizenship in our American democracy. In a society such as ours, the responsi- bility of the individual citizen is very great. I hope that your ex- periences in our public schools will enable you to competently carry on your future responsibilities. As an individual or through the groups to which you belong you may in- fluence the course of public affairs. May it ever be in terms of the basic American documents in the tradition of our American liberty. Never be- come indifferent to your responsibil- ity for maintaining our freedom. My best wishes go to all of you in your pursuit of success and happiness in life. JOSEPH H. GIBBONS Superintendent of Schools
