A Sljnuaanb mh (§m lags Listen my classmates and you shall hear Of the thousand and one days we all hold dear; ' Twos on the sixth of September in Forty-eight, As shy, little Freshmen we ' ll remember the date. Then one day our shiny classrings came, With upraised hands our joy proclaimed; We then settled down to await The coming of a pleasant date. The early days went by with ease For the Freshmen all did what they pleased; At last came the time of the Freshman dance. All the boys were resplendent in new long pants. The Junior Prom was a great affair For girls with lovely shining hair. Dressed in their pretty evening clothes, Corsaged with orchid, sweet pea, or rose. For the rest of the year we settled down To work very hard for the Sophomore Crown; At last ended the time of matriculation And joyously we started on a long vacation. During the year the changes began. New holes were dug and mortar ran; We knew when we returned once more We ' d find a new school behind the same door. When we returned to trample the grass. We learned we were still the baby class; For of the lower class we got little impression, As we were cut off by the double session. As we began our final year With eyes so bright and mind so clear, We bent our will to education In preparation for our graduation. Still we went on through thick and thin. And the Sophomore Hop was quite a spin; Then some of our boys heard Tuck ' s call And hustled out to play football. Some budding actors and actresses we discovered. When in March the class play was uncovered; We also started on the long task Of producing a yearbook unsurpassed. The sessions room was never bare. For some Sophomore was always there; Finally the year came to a close, A happy reprieve until Junior prose. The Reception, Banquet and Class Day All went by without delay; Graduation passes, and all too soon We ' ll all look back on that day in June. We Juniors looked so bright and gay Coming back that September day; Still standing there — our study hall waited. But we knew not what then was fated. Our life has now reached a point of turning, Ahead we see the torch still burning; May success, fame, and health embrace you, O Stoughton High Class of Fifty-two!
