SEMAPHORE 1949 Class Ode To Tune of Beautiful Dreamer Come ' 49ers and bid your goodbyes, For it is time we must leave Stoughton High. School days behind us forever shall be, Only to live on in our memory. Dear Stoughton High School, we leave thee with tears, As we recall many joys of past years. Your loyal hands have helped us along, Thus in remembering we leave you with song — Thus in remembering we leave you with song. Our books are passed in; our studies are through. We know we must leave; yet it ' s so hard to do; But for the glory of your great name We ' ll strive and succeed, winning fortune and fame. So Stoughton High School in final adieu We hope you will miss us as we will miss you. The rooms will seem empty; the halls will seem bare. 1949 SEMAPHORE HHB am 31 n pernor taut The Stoughton community suffered a great loss in the recent death of our beloved teacher, Mrs. Isadora Bowman. She stood for everything that was fine and progressive. Her duties as a teacher went far beyond her teaching of certain school subjects. Her great love of children and people taught us the necessity of being good citizens and the need of tolerance of all races and creeds. Her confidence in humanity gave her patience and strength during her last trying days. Up to the very end she believed in bettering everyone she came in contact with and also sought to improve her own mind as well. We will miss her terribly and her influence upon us will be her lasting monument. Helen Janock, Grade 8 5
