LOUIS ROEDERER Language Department Economics Department Licencie en Droit, University of Lyons fFranceJ Originally coming to Stony Brook as a substitute teacher when Mr. Akeroyd was ill, Mr. Roederer did such a good iob he was asked to stay on as a regular teacher. He is teaching economics and Span- ish. He also teaches a French class for the people of the surrounding community. Mr. Roederer worked in the United Nations before coming to Stony Brook. FRANCIS LIGGET Bible Department FLOYD JOHNSON Director of Athletics Mathematics Department Davidson College, A.B., 1936 Duke University, M.A., 1941 Springfield College, B.S., 1950 Dallas Theological Seminary, Th.M., 1951 Now in his third year at Stony Brook, Mr. Ligget teaches Bible and current events. He has a busy schedule which includes coaching i.v. football, wrest- ling, and i.v. baseball. He acts as advisor to the Auto Mechanics Club. Mr. Ligget lives with his wife and family in Hopkins Hall. A graduate of Stony Brook in the class of '31, Mr. Johnson returned to his alma mater as a master. Besides teaching senior math, geometry, and algebra, he also is Director of Athletics. His duties include coaching the varsity football and baseball teams. Mr. Johnson lives with his wife and family in their home on the campus. 20

JOHN KING English Department Downing College, B.A. ln his first year at Stony Brook after studying at Cambridge University in England, Mr. King is a member ol our English department. He helped Mr. Alseroyd organize soccer in the fall, instructing the boys in some ol the fundamentals. Mr, King has an apartment in Johnston Hall where he is one of the resident masters. Music Department Nebraslza Wesleyan University, B.A., 1950 Colgate Rochester Divinity School, B.D., 1953 ln addition to his duties as pastor of the Baptist Church of Port Jefferson, Mr. Evans last year tool: over the King's Men and the Glee Club. He has arranged for concerts and visits by musical ensembles to various churches throughout the island. We will long remember the Christmas program he directed for the school. He also takes charge of the Thursday chapel at which time he leads the student body in a song service. WILLIAM BISGROVE Remedial Reading Houghton College, A.B., l94O University of Pennsylvania, M.A., l94l Mr. Bisgrove, who has been with us for five years, is our instructor in remedial reading and also teaches a Latin class, Being one ot the masters in Hopkins Hall, he is very popular with the younger fellows and is o great help in getting them adapted to lile at Stony Brook. Another reason for his popularity is his television set which can usually be found with a group oi boys gathered around it. 22
