D. lHon.J Reformed Episcopal Theological Seminary, D.D. lHon.D Headmaster of the school since its founding, Dr. Gaebelein knows each student personally in spite of his busy schedule. He is regarded as one of the leading educators and Bible expositors in the country. As o result, he is frequently invited to speak in some of the nation's leading churches and college chapels. ln addition to his duties he finds time to write not only books, but also many articles for current maga- zines. Dr. Gaebelein's spare time is devoted to music and mountain climbing. it Princeton University, A.B., 1913 After his many years at Stony Brook, P. C. is almost a legend. He is the head of the English Department and is acknowledged as an outstanding teacher. He is the senior master of the school, a member of the board of directors, and the lay leader of the school church. Every boy who has left here remembers him as a fine Christian gentleman and a wonderful friend who is always ready to help. RICHARD AKEROYD Language Department Oxford University, B.A., 1941 Oxford University, M.A., 1955 Coming to Stony Brook from England, where he commanded a British submarine during the last war, Mr. Akeroyd is an excellent'French teacher. He intro- duced soccer to the boys participating in class athletics this past fall, and it became quite popular. He has also developed the Rifle Club into an active organization. Mr, and Mrs. Akeroyd and their two children live in a campus home on Cedar St. 17
