BRUIN Page23 CLASS HISTORY We are leaung Stonmgton High School Anyone wull tell you that we are leaung a school that IS not outstandmg for nts beauty of construction Nexerthe less the majorxty of us are leaung wrth regret ln our hearts We cannot help looking backward m retro speet and standnng mentally rn the renewing box As usual our class was composed of students from West Broad Street School St Mnchael s Stonmgton Grammar School and the Mystnc Broadway School Durmg our first hugh school year we were separated As one group we held our first class electlon rn Mlss Mullaney s room and Daxnd Austm was chosen to shape the destlmes of the Sophomore Class The class sponsored no soclals durlng the year but nt drd pxrtnclpate nn the competutnve plays The class of 1937 surprlsed exeryone by walknng off wnth the prlze for the best play of the eserung Robert Rxchmond Verna Dontld Kmncy stlrred nn the Pampered Darlmg Mlss Mlry Mullmey dnrected the play Then came the fmal exams and many were the frightened hearts th ll aw uted the res llts It was lust a false alarm for most of us howexer and we passed into our thlrd year Once lgam the class testnhed to the esteem ID whlch they held Dlklel Austin when they elected hum presndent for the second successne xelr So low were the flnancual coffers of our cllss thxs thnrd yelr that rt was feared for a trme that the class would haxe to depart from tradmon and not present the annual prom enlde From a sery successful Thanks rung dance a cake sale and a sprung dance howexer we rused enough money Thus the bug atfanr of the year from the stand pomt of the unrors was the umor Prom The dance proxcd a social and financnl success Bob Snmpson and hrs orchestra prouded the music for the one hun dred and fifty couples attendlng It must not be thought that our class boasted merely of socxalntes We had a fanr representation on the honor roll and our athletes were xery promment nn sports And then came the Semor year the most glorious year of all' The annual Sennor Promenade gnven by the Semors was just another success to add to the long lust of achxevemcnts lccomplrshed by the class The town hall was garly decorated with Christmas trees 1nd the class color scheme of green and srlxer trans formed the hall unto a magrc furyland The prom committee whrch lrranged the affur was headed by ames EmlllO the Senror Class Presndent Next on the calendar of ex ents came the Sprung Speclaltles presented at the West Broad Street School Aprrl 16 Thus affair consisted of three plays and a dance The Senlors presented as their part of the program 1 one lct comedy entntled The Arm ll of Reuben Mlss Mary Cogan and Mxss Grlce Clrlson flculty adusers directed the play We hue come to the end of the pathway The cherished goal for whlch we hue strnen has been reached as we proudly recene our dlplomas May the frxendshlps cultn ated during our school years together not be forgotten after graduatnon il V' . .
