It has been difficult to put down in words and pictures all our feelings about this year. It is our hope that S in these pages you will find a glimpse of what the year 1977 at Stonewall has meant to you. Dedication We, the staff of the Stonewall High School yearbook, are proud to dedicate the 1977 Longhorn to Superin¬ tendent Sybil Stokes and the late Moiselle Stokes whose unselfish devotion to the cause of education has been so effectively felt at Stonewall for the past thrity one years. Mr. Stokes, who is recognized as an outstanding science and math teacher, served as high school instructor and principal for eighteen years and as superintendent for the past thirteen years. During his long tenure, he has produced some outstanding math and science students who have gone on to excel in positions related to these fields. Before her untimely death in October, 1976, Mrs. Stokes had been a teacher in the Stonewall Schools. She began her career as a business instructor, moved to first grade teacher; after a few years in that capacity, she taught business and Spanish, high school level. A tireless worker, she taught a variety of subjects and sponsored many different activities. Both elementary and high school students shared a deep devotion, admiration, and respect for her. Stonewall Schools will truly feel the loss of this dedicated couple who worked so faithfully to give our young people all possible advantages. We wish to take this opportunity to wish Mr. Stokes the best of everything in his new position. 3
