J dedication To Mrs. Bateman, who came to us in our Senior year and has been our mother, friend and helper through the toughest spots, we the class of ' 48 dedicate the sixth volume of The Confederate. She has given us unselfishly of her time, energy, patience, and understanding, which we shall always remember. To us, words are very empty when we try to describe our feelings of gratitude for the many little things that she has done to help us through this trying year. ( 5 )
