DEDICATION i MR. WILLIAM L. HOYT Everyman’s work, whether it be litera- ture Of music or pictures or architecture or anything else, is always a portrait of himself, and the more he tries to conceal himself the more clearly will his charac- ter appear in spite of him.” An advisor, an educator, an administrator, a friend — he is never too busy to stop and listen to our everyday problems. His red hair is deceiving, for the customary hot temper that is supposed to ac- company it is never seen. Through his patience and concern for the demands of others, we have ex- perienced many changes at Stoneham High, changes that have given students the right to voice opinions and to challenge old standards. His awareness and sensitivity to youth have resulted in a mutual trust gaining him our admiration and respect. The class of 1971 would, therefore, like to dedicate its year- book to Mr. Hoyt, as a tribute to his many years of dedication to us. 5

Jn Mpmortam MRS. MARGARET M. GARVIN The secret heart is devotion’s temple; there the saint lights the flarfle of purest sacrifice which burns unseen but not unaccepted.” For 31 years, Mrs. Margaret Garvin dedicated her life to Stoneham High School students. Her job was not an easy one, yet she continuously showed remarkable strength and insight in guiding young people. Her interest in the individual enabled many smdents to find success in locating part-time jobs or choosing a career after graduation. Her satisfaction came from the success of other people whom she had advised and helped, and many times the success was due to her genuine interest and guidance. We will always remember her devotion to us, and our class would like to present this book in memory of her. 4
