PHYSICAL EDUCATION A healthy mind in a healthy body is the belief of our capable physical educa- tion teachers. Gym class, under their su- pervision, is no snap. They seem intent to make real Spartans of us all. Though not exactly relaxing, gym class is fun. Some students are known to have be- come so fond of it that they report for makeup periodically. The members of one of Mr. Fawcett ' s gym classes are in a joyful mood as they watch an equally happy George Sterling perform on the high bar. Mr. Karl Elerin, supervisor of physical education.

LANGUAGES The area of foreign languages has al- ways been important at Stoneham High School Aside from its practical aspect, the study of a foreign language enables us to learn more about the customs, art, literature, and cultural backgrounds of the inhabitants of different countries Then we can better understand our neigh- bors in this ever-shrinking world Miss Lydia Risi, chairman of the department.
