FOREWORD For our yearbook we have chosen the Spartan theme. Spartan is more than just a nickname given to our athletic teams. It represents a code of action and thought which we admire. In part, this philosophy recognizes the value of cour- age, honesty, and perserverance as indi- vidual character traits. The Spartan ideal at Stoneham High School is little dif- ferent from that of the ancient Greeks; the main aim is to produce a rugged, independent citizen as a prerequisite to a sound democracy. DEDICATED TO If a teacher is to be truly successful, he has to be technically proficient, but he must also be understanding. Mr. William Miller was just such a teacher. For many years he gave his students a firm foundation in science. At the same time, he was always ready to help a student solve a personal problem.
