Jf Co C 4 Citizens of tomorrow STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS: President , Dick Steel; l ice President, James Ruina; Secretary, Bette Flynn; Treasurer, Mary Lou Giganti; Junior f ice President, Robert Vetromile; Sophomore Vice President, Joan Gil- martin; Adviser — Mr. Wendell Horton In carrying out democratic ideas, any group deserves a chanee to express opinions in matters related to the group. In Stoneham High School we have such an opportunity through the Stu- dent Council. The student body, through its representatives, can offer suggestions, ask ques- tions, and take a real part in school affairs. This year the Council had charge of class elec- tions in the school; sponsored a record poll, the football rallies, and the Winter Carnival; helped with the Booster Club campaign; and made plans for the care of the school and grounds. This was the Student Council — the Voice of Stoneham High! The spark injected in the Ath- letic Association this year was magnetic. The Boosters Club membership drive, headed by Mr. Timothy Higgins and his A. A. officers, with the coopera- tion of the student body and townspeople, met with outstand- ing success. Over seven hundred memberships were sold at a dollar apiece, and Booster but- tons were distributed to members and participants. The A. A. membership drive was equally successful with over six hundred memberships sold. Besides its financial success, the A. A. cre- ated interest, enthusiasm, and participation in all our athletic programs. A. A A. A.
