Foreword J J E PROUDLY PRESENT the first edition of the newly christened Retrospect. Through its pages, we want you who are not ' 51 gradu- ates to catch a glimpse of life at Stoneham High; and we want you, our classmates, to look in retrospect at the years you have spent mak- ing lasting friendships, enriching your mind, competing gamely on the athletic field, and broadening your outlook on life. Recall a fam- iliar event, chuckle at a snapshot, ponder over a thoughtful message, and beam at your own picture. Do this now as new graduates and in twenty years as distinguished alumni. If you do, this yearbook will fulfill its purpose and become a priceless possession.

ATION America lives in her simple homes: The weathered door, the old wistaria vine, The dusty barnyard where the rooster roams, The common trees like elm and oak and pine. In furniture built for comfort, not for looks, In names like Jack and Pete and Caroline, In neighbors you can trust, and honest books, And peace, and hope, and opportunity. Russell Davenport
