Worth Karen Helms rests for a few minutes on Mike Wilkes' lap. very student at SMHS has been told that high school is a prepa- ration for later life, This theory certainly holds true in relationships. There are many valuable things to be learned from a high school relationship. Some couples seem to find true love in their high school years, while others date simply to have fun. But regardless of the reasoning behind the relationship, most students enjoy the security ofa boy- friend or girlfriend. A high school relationship is more than the cliched version of dating as portrayed in many teen-age movies. There is little comparable to the sense of comfort found in a companion. A boyfriend or girlfriend can be someone to share hopes, dreams, aspirations, worries, fears, inse- curities, a blanket on a cold night, and even lVlcDonald's french fries. Everyone enjoys the feeling obtained by being num- ber one to someone. As the high school graduate reflects back upon his teen-age years a smile will spread over his face as he recalls that special relationship. Regardless of how the relationship concluded, he will realize how much he learned about the dating world and see that these relationships are worth their weight in gold.
