Michelle Noble shows everyone her true colors on Tie-Die day. he 1987 Spirit Week kicked off Tuesday with an old school tradition: College day. The variety of college paraphernalia ranged from Alabama to Yale. SMH students resembled characters from Happy Days Wednes- day, which was Fifties day. Thursday, vivid colors blinded the eye as a myriad of students sauntered around school in psy- chedelic tiefdye shirts. The end of the week instilled enthusi- asm in everyone, and Red and White day was a complete success. The students could also show their spirit all week by purchasing red, white, or black balloons from the Varsity Cheerleading squad. Dressed as raisins for their skit, the teachers dance to I Heard it Through the Grapevine. ,IPA he Homecoming Pep Rally was a special time for everyone to let their Pirate spirit show. It began with the introduction of the 1987 Homecoming Court. First, the Underclass members of the Court were escorted into the gymg they were followed by the five senior candidates for Homecoming Queen. Students weren't the only ones to let loose at the pep assembly. The teachers held the spotlight during their annual skit. They entered the gym dressed as raisins, dancing to the sound of l Heard it Through the Grapevine. They sang the song using their own lyrics, composed about Homecoming, in place of the original ones. Heather Rakestraw shows everyone Tanya Woods always enjoys herself at how spirited she is by cheering at the pep assemblies. pep rally. The varsity cheerleaders perform a skit in which they pretend to be football players. 132
