Oran Bond won lst place for his FFA booth at the State Fair last year. I-Ie was also chosen State Star Farmer. wasgplaalhlljl For those of you who wonder what FFA is all about, we would like to explain. First of all it stands for Future Farmers of America and is a nationally recognized organization made up of students between 13 and 21 years of age who are interested in agriculture . Its main purpose is to encourage the development of leadership, citizenship, and cooperation of its participants. Many of the 1977 FFA members ' -if . e- '. f 'y E5 DF is A-:BBL ' Nw. 'e.wl 3.221 .V'...fru1-arm ' ea as 7. As he passes by, Mr. Ladner stops to give these students a hand as they work on the Homecoming float. If from Stone High attended the State Fair in Jackson, showing livestock and participating in judging contests. One outstanding member, Oran Bond, obtained many honors at the fair and was named State Star Farmer out of approximately 13,000 FFA members from all over Mississippi. He also received the proficiency award for Crop Production at the National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. All in all Stone High FFA members are encouraged to take part in school and community activities that will contribute to the development of themselves and their cornmunities. Our FFA Swine Judging Team, supervised by Mr. Foxworth, f won 2nd place at the State Fair this year. Members are Brian Hancock, Garvin Weaver and john Walker. Organizations X FFA 83
