On February 2, Stone I-Iigh's Echo Staff sponsored the second annual Beauty 8 Beau Pageant. However, preparations for the pageant began long before that night. Changing a gymnasium into an appropriate setting for a beauty S beau pageant is a difficult task, but with the help of and donations from many different people it was accomplished. The contestant of course wanted to look their best so they began hunting for an outfit that was just right. The night finally arrived and tension was high. After all 27 couples were presented by the emcee Mr. Rouse, the judges went into consultation to determine the semi-finalists. It seemed like hours before the judges returned with their selections. Semi-finalist girls were Gayle Roberson, Becky Sumrall, Theresa Chandler, Susan Dunnam, Karen Overstreet, Elisa Smith, Karen Keyseear, Tamarah Smith, jacki Danzey and Sonia Guyton. Semi- finalist boys were Scott Stickland, Kent Ainsworth, Robert Fortner, Mark Hatten, Randy Beach, john Price, David jetton, Terry Owen, Brian Warren, Willie Goins, and Ricky Farmer. Tension mounted even higher as the judges left for the second time . Once again time dragged by until eventually the judges came back with their final decision: MOST HANDSOME - Robert Fortnerg MOST BEAUTIFUL - Sonia Guytong BEAUTIES - Theresa Chandler, Susan Dunnam, Gayle Roberson, Elisa Smith, and Tamarah Smithg BEAUS - Randy Beach, Willie Goins, John Price, Scott Strickland, and Brian Warren.
