A lot of joking around goes on in the lunch room as well as plenty of serious eating. ,..J For some reason, when we have hamburgers and french fries the cafeteria is jammed and the line runs out the door. Teachers, like students, enjoy their lunch period tOO . -'Cl 1. So maybe it's not Pizza I-lut, but many kids enjoy Stone High's Pizza lunches. At least, we have to admit they're interesting. I mean, who else serves Italian soul food with ttunip greens . Again, this year we have closed lunch periods which are not very popular, to say the least! But that is not the main gripe . There are no menus posted and we are always kept in the dark as to what is for lunch. We never know if it is the day for hot dogs and french fries or the day for spaghetti and meat sauce . One of the favorite past-times during morning break is trying to guess from the smells emanating from the kitchen what we will have for lunch. A quick inspection of someone's tray when we enter the cafeteria confirms or denies our suspicions. But lunch period is really a fun period. No matter how good the meal, it wouldn't be school unless someone gives it a cut. Even though the lunch period is sometimes a hassleg like trying to find a punch, a place in line, a chair, and so on, it's also a time to relax and have a good long talk with a friend- -better make that a short talk, 'cause when we finally get our plates we are in such a hurry to finish before our teacher does that you . . . fOops! there I go cutting down lunch period againj .
