Oh a lot of kids like to ride skateboards but not all of them make their own. You see about two years ago jonathan started ordering parts from magazines and making skateboards. He says, It's easy, all you need are the wheels, a bearing, the mmk and a board. He sizes, cuts, and sands the boards in shop at school. Jonathan has learned to ride many different ways, like with feet up and hands on the board! He built a ramp in his back yard to practice on and hopes to enter some kind of riding contest soon. Of course he's had a few falls, but nevertheless, jonathan still enjoys the excitement only skateboarding brings. People I Freshmen 163

He makes dangerous force landings and stalls, both necessary for his training. Forced landings occur when Joe cuts off the engine's power and looks for the safest place to land. Stalls are more dangerous. This happens when he cuts off all power and goes straight up until the plane stalls. joe has no control of the plane as it noses downward until it gains flying speed from falling . joe has done some instrument flying, but needs many more hours of training. His next step will be night flying. I-Ie admits that flying is not one of the safest things to do, but it is fun and very exciting to have conh-ol of so much power. Joe plans to make flying a career, but has not decided which branch to pursue . It will take a lot of hard work, study, and self discipline, but we think you can do it, joe!
