The blaze reaches to the sky as the bon fire raises the Tomcat spirit. The court assembled early that night at Perk Stadium to put final touches on the float. Cheerleaders were mounted on their float as the court boarded their beautiful balloon. As the band set the atmos- phere by playing Up, Up, and Away the two floats rounded the field and the Homecoming court was proudly presented to the audience. Lovely lVliss Sue Owen was crowned as Homecoming Queen which ended the ceremony. A quick change on the field from the Homecoming Court to the football players was made and the game got underway. lt was close during the early part of the game but the South Jones Braves overpowered the tough Tomcats. Even the defeat and cold weather didn't keep the stu- dents away from the dance though. AFTER HOURS ttir T ' Finally it's here, the 3:00 bell and students are headin' out. Some go home, some go to work, and some even stay at school for reasons such as Basketball, Football, Cheer- leading, Band, or Baseball practice. There are ocasional club meetings after school too. On the weekends, students go to the Coast to catch the latest movie or to 2001 to do some of the latest dances. 0ne thing that is for sure, SHS students really stay busy after school hours.
