As the doors of SHS were opened Friday, September 24, the clocks had been turned back 20 years. Saddle oxfords, penny loafers, bobby socks, duck tails and pony tails filled the halls as the swing- ing 5O's strolled by. A carefree feeling was in the air as girls with glowing red lips and boys with greased back hair walked casually to their classes. During morning break, the Stu- dent Council sponsored a Happy Days' Look-a-like Contest. The judges chose Tracy Dale as the Fonzie look-a-like, Jackie Danzey as Spike, Wendy Waits as Pinkey, and Gabrielle Davis as Miss Teen- angel. The day was concluded with an old-fashioned pep rally and every cheer started with, All here, Let's cheer! Dancing to the tune of Happy Days, the cheerleaders get a taste of the 50's. WHO YA RGOTIN' FOR? . . . S.H.S.! Cheerleaders and band students may be dismissed at this time to get ready for the pep rally. Each Friday this announcement is eagerly await- ed because it means that it is almost time for the pep rally. When the bell rings all the stu dents race to the gym to hear the familiar sounds. The beat of the drums . . . Notre Dame . . . the shouts of the cheer- leaders, all these go together to make up a pep rally . As the cheerleaders enter the gym, the crowd leans for- ward in anticipation of the opening skit. They usually use football players as guinea pigs and make them do all kinds of crazy things like being tables and chairs, going up Horror Hill, and kissing Sleep- ing Beauty. Then the moment comes for the victory cheers. All the students release their excite- ment in a deafening yell of V-I -C-T-O-R-Y. lVlost Handsome, Jim Price proves that he can also be the ugliest. Dressed as witches at Halloween, the cheerleaders take Tim Martin and Ricky Bates on a trip up Horror Hill.
