With hands shaking ner- vously, Susie Hayden hur- riedly pins on Tami Scar- borough's corsage. lmpatiently, Don Ainsworth, James Davis, and Vlike Bardwell wait for tie first sparks to ignite. l Holding the skirt on the float while lVlrs. Rabby staples is Teresa Chandler's job. Friday morning came early and this time an excited, anxious group entered SHS. Jeans, jerseys and tennis shoes were the dress for many. The clock inched its way to 10:30 and then all classes assembled into their places for the pep rally. The little people bounced onto the gym floor with their little skirts and funny faces. The unrolling of the spirit chain and the eruption of the spirit vol- cano meant double victory for the Seniors even though everyone bubbled over with spirit. That night the homecom- ing court began to assemble at Perk Stadium. Nervous tension mingled with happy expectation was felt as the girls, dressed in lovely bi- centennial gowns of red, blue, or white, took their places on the Spirit Eagle float they had worked on so hard. Cheerleaders boarded their megaphone float and things began to get under way. 27 l
