Although the hopes and dreams of yesteryear are focused deeply in our minds, we recall many pleasant memories. In 1947 we began our eventful school career. There were so many of us that we were divided into two groups. We were little angels with teacher Angels-Mrs. Hassel and Mrs. Ashby Angel were our teachers. Naturally the highlight of our first year was the Negro Minstrel we gave at Halloween. Our years in grade school were filled with excitement. We had many te a che rs to guide us. We also gained and lost classmates. There was much enjoyment being in operettas and May Day programs. We advanced step-by-step to the eighth grade. We are grateful to Mrs. Richardson and Mr. R i ckma n for being able to correct our mistakes, and set us on the right path for high school. The year was very exciting. We went to visit our Capital City. Also, eighth grade graduation was held. We shall know again in the near future the wonderful feeling we shared the night we received our eighth grade diplomas. As we entered the doors of high school, a sudden change occured. Some of the boys and girls became m e mbers of the basketball team, while others became members of F .H.A. , Glee Club, and Cheerleaders. Grownup was now our tra de mark since we could change classes. Thanks to Mrs. Southard and Mrs. Hamid, our homeroom teachers, we green freshmen soon found our place and settled down to work. .
