THE TREE OF LIFE We, the Class of 56, were planted in the elementary as a seed is planted for growth. Our growth has taken twelve years of work, play, sadness and happiness. As the tree of Life withers at times so did we; but when the closeness of one another glowed. We climbed still higher to greater goals. The child, as a tree, needs love and care; For these we give praise, gratitude to our parents and teachers. Without their love and guidance we would have lost our way upon the path we follow. We started our years of High School, we wondered what the future held; Now as they are concluding: We stretch forth our arms, as a tree when grown; We ask our Father in Heaven to guide us to follow our motto, Onward and Upward though the road may be rough. --Jean Halbrook ALMA MATER In the hearts of Stokesdale students Flames a love of old, Thou art ever growing dearer, For the blue and gold. May thine honor, name, and glory, Stand the test of time, Trusting ever; doubting never, That thou art sublime. CHORUS Hail to thee, our ALMA MATER, Let us pledge anew, (Boys) Let us pledge anew, Faithful, loyal, willing service, Stokesdale High to you.
