With a heavy-hitting crew but a questionable pitching staff, the Tang horsehiders were still respected throughout the league. With Bob Leopold gone, Coach Don Hall had to count on Bill Leach and Devere Schnabel for his mound staff; backing these boys were Roy Laughterdale and Ron Kuel. In outfielder Joy Gritts, Coach Hall had one of the most respected hitters in the league. The East Contra Costa man arrived safely at first as Ben Nicholas received a throw too late. Shortstop Pete Catlett beat out an infield hit. Page 175
